Why an annual median may mislead
Ask about hours
as well as the rate.
The headline figure is an occupational wage estimate, not take-home pay and not a guarantee of full-time work. BLS notes that work schedules vary by setting, with part-time and seasonal opportunities around flower-giving holidays. Freelance and shop-owner revenue also has to cover costs and unpaid business time.
If you are comparing an offer, check the hourly rate, guaranteed weekly hours, seasonal schedule, overtime arrangements and whether event setup or delivery is included.
