Four continuous pairs
Most people use behaviors associated with both sides. Roles, culture, safety, access, fatigue, learning, and current demands can change what appears. A position says nothing about whether a behavior was effective.

An original Ikigain 48-item reflective form with 12 items per preference pair, six keyed toward each pole, written across varied everyday and work contexts.
Responses are keyed 0–4 toward the high pole and summed to 0–48 for each pair. The raw midpoint is 24. Exact midpoint ties produce X rather than a forced letter; raw margins of 1–4 receive an editorial near-midpoint caution. Continuous pair positions are primary and the four-character code is secondary shorthand.
Close, moderate, and pronounced describe only mathematical distance from this form's midpoint (1–4, 5–9, and 10–24 raw points). They are not confidence estimates, population norms, stability probabilities, or evidence of a categorical personality type.
Response process
Use the past few months and more than one role. Answer each statement literally. The form interleaves the four pairs so twelve similar prompts do not appear in one block, and the result later lets you review every prompt with its selected anchor.
The visible 0–4 numbers identify the five response anchors; they are not direct points toward the same pole on every statement. Within each pair, six statements are keyed toward each side. Contributions from the opposite-keyed statements are reversed before the 12 values are summed into one 0–48 position.
The result keeps all 48 visible prompts and selected labels so you can audit what you actually answered.
A relative lean does not make the other side absent, weak, false, unhealthy, or inaccessible.
Use recent examples from different roles instead of comparing yourself with fictional characters or type-community clichés.
The code is deliberately limited
Two people can receive the same letters with very different scale positions. A one-point margin and a twenty-point margin produce the same shorthand, even though they should not be interpreted alike. That is why the result centers continua, raw sums, X states, and answer review.
There are no population norms, rarest-type claims, popularity rankings, or claims that an unusual code is more special.
Letters do not determine attraction, communication success, relationship health, team fit, or a universal best match.

The optional code is a compact shorthand for which side of each mathematical midpoint this answer set falls on. It throws away distance and boundary information, so the four continuous pair positions are the primary result. A letter is never evidence that personality is divided into sixteen natural categories.
X means one pair landed exactly at its 24-of-48 raw midpoint. The form preserves the tie instead of choosing the first side, using a hidden tie-breaker, or forcing a complete code. XXTX, for example, is intentionally unresolved on three pairs.
A raw margin of 1–4 points receives a visible boundary caution because a small number of different answers could change the shorthand letter. Close, moderate, and pronounced are mathematical-distance descriptions only—not confidence, certainty, stability, validity, or population strength.
No. The form has no population norms and makes no rarity or popularity claims. Neither pole is more capable, healthy, intelligent, caring, creative, organized, employable, or valuable. Everyone can use behaviors associated with both sides.

Each pair contains twelve original statements—six oriented toward each pole and spread across several everyday and work contexts. The balance prevents one wording direction from defining a pair, but balanced design alone does not establish reliability or validity.
The result remains visible with a response-pattern caution. Because the form balances item directions, selecting one anchor throughout can produce midpoint or mixed arithmetic. The pattern may be sincere; it is not automatically invalid, dishonest, or careless.
No. The complete result appears after secure server scoring. Guest attempts use a secure session cookie and can later be claimed to an Ikigain account; marketing consent remains a separate choice. A short-lived device cache may retain only unsent responses during a connection interruption.
