How the IPIP-50 scoring works
Use the official labels from Very inaccurate through Very accurate. The published item wording and order are not rewritten for search variation.
Visible responses become 1–5 keyed values. Designated opposite-direction items are reversed before any scale sum is calculated.
Ten keyed items produce each official 10–50 domain sum. A separate visual position shows only where that sum falls inside its possible range.
Worked scoring key
Your visible answer never changes. The key changes only its numeric contribution so every item in a domain points toward the domain name. The neutral middle stays 3 in both directions.

Official domain sum: add the ten keyed values, producing a possible result from 10 to 50.
Ikigain visual position: (raw sum − 10) ÷ 40 × 100. For example, 30 becomes 50/100. This is not a percentile.
The English items, response scale, domain key, reverse directions, and 10–50 sums come from IPIP. The interface, secure versioned persistence, short-lived pending-response cache, 0–100 range visualization, response-pattern caution, practical reflection, and three reading sections are implementation layers and must not be mistaken for official IPIP norms.

The Big Five is a broad trait framework that describes patterns across five continuous domains. It does not divide everyone into a small set of personality types, and a domain score is not a measure of worth or potential.

That repeated scale is intentional. The published form asks how accurately each statement describes you, from Very inaccurate to Very accurate. The labels stay the same so a response has the same visible meaning throughout the form; statement-specific answer choices are not substituted.
Some statements point in the opposite direction of the domain being summed. A forward-keyed response contributes 1 through 5 from Very inaccurate to Very accurate; an opposite-direction item contributes 5 through 1. The middle response remains 3. Your selected label is preserved unchanged—the reversal is applied only when calculating the domain sum.
No. Each official domain sum can range from 10 to 50. The visual 0–100 number only shows where that sum falls inside its mathematically possible response range; it does not compare you with a population or say how rare a score is.
No population categories are assigned. Three editorial reading sections select practical copy from the possible response range only. They are not official IPIP norm bands, clinical thresholds, or claims about a reference group.
The result preserves every exact raw-score tie and names the tied domains. It never breaks a tie by display order or invents a dominant trait. The five domains are not competing for one winner.
This IPIP scoring key presents factor IV in the Emotional Stability direction. A response-range position on this scale is not a diagnosis, symptom measure, resilience verdict, or statement about mental health.
No. Intellect / Imagination is the label used for this public-domain marker set. The result does not claim equivalence to a proprietary NEO instrument or another publisher's Openness scale.
