Let AI propose two implementation approaches and identify the assumptions each makes.
Design the behavior behind a product · AI impact
Will AI change software developer work?
The useful question is not a made-up replacement percentage. It is which tasks can change, what must be checked and who remains accountable.
Task-level view · not a risk score
Assistance is not ownership.
BLS expects demand related to software for AI, robotics, automation, connected devices, and security. That does not assure growth for any individual specialty. If you use AI to draft code, stay responsible for requirements, tests, and behavior. Notice whether the tool helps you examine a design or lets you skip reasoning you would need for maintenance.
These are Ikigain’s examples and inferences about tasks, not a measured displacement forecast for this occupation. Employers differ in the information they allow into AI systems and in the standards a final output must meet.
A useful boundary
Draft. Verify. Decide.
Run tests and inspect data handling, permissions and failure behavior yourself.
Never call generated code safe or production-ready merely because it runs once.
Try the difference yourself
One comparison, not a verdict.
Make a tiny application that stores and retrieves a fictional record. Include an error case, tests and a short note about what you would change after a user report. A working demo is more useful than an unexplained code dump.
Try a small, fictional part with and without an AI draft. Note what saved time, what you had to correct, and what remained impossible to judge without context or permission. If a task involves safety, clients, pupils or confidential data, keep the experiment entirely fictional and follow professional rules.
